The Brief
Our client needed a venue for an ‘immersive musical production’ and their locations team had found a ‘meanwhile use’ opportunity near Canning Town tube station. A couple of interconnected warehouses were vacant whilst the developers finalised their plans but had recently been commandeered by squatters and lacked basic facilities. Their preferred show dates were approaching, so we had to move fast.
What We Did
Entourage Live carried out a full feasibility report for the venue and outlined the work that would need to be done to make it suitable for their event. A new entrance was created; and lighting, plumbing, fire safety and power solutions were implemented internally to make the site safe to work in.
The venue walls and roof were fully draped in black to provide an atmospheric theatrical space, and structural engineering was required to ensure that the roof could support the show rigging. Our administrative teams were also fully utilised, securing change of use planning permission, and premise licences for the space.
Project Success
The venue activation was so successful, that our client ended up producing three different ‘immersive shows’ in the venue over a three-year period. Over 200,000 audience members attended the venue and had no idea how the venue looked, before we arrived.
